Qualifications: Appropriate Certification by the Missouri State Department of Education.
Reports to: Building Principal
Goal: To help students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as able, responsible citizens.
Responsibilities:
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Align and implement District approved curriculum.
- Assess accomplishment of students on a regular basis.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide individual and group instruction.
- Create a positive learning environment through displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
- Keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents through a variety of means including conferences.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Attend required meetings.
- Select, requisition and inventory appropriate books and instructional aids.
- Supervise students during work day.
- Work cooperatively with other staff.
- Supervise paraprofessional if appropriate.
- Prepare for class and provide written evidence as requested.
- Make referrals of students when necessary as determined by need.
- Manage classroom behaviors appropriately.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Keep confidentiality and respect student privacy.
- Keep building principal informed of appropriate issues.
- Keep the Principal informed of appropriate issues.
- Make decisions for the best interests of the District and within Board policies and CSIP objectives.
- Promote positive relations between the building, District, Board and community.
- Work to achieve district goals adopted by the Board.
- Execute all policies, rules and regulations adopted by the Board.
- Performs duties as assigned to maintain order and safety.
Terms of Employment:
Contract to be established by the Board – Generally 182 days.
Evaluation:
Annually by the Building Principal in accordance with policy.
A criminal fingerprint/background clearance is required. |
