Description

Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree or higher in elementary education and valid Missouri teachering certificate or the ability to obtain one.

 

Reports to: Building Principal

 

Goal:  Provide additional support to the instructional program and be part of a multi-tiered system of support for effecting behavioral changes in the building.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a positive role model for students and model professional and ethical standards.
  • Work individually or in a small group to assist in managing daily behaviors.
  • To work in a collegial and collaborative manner with peers, school personnel, and the school community to promote and support the mission and goals of the building and abide by all school policies and procedures.
  • Assist in developing interventions, functional behavior assessments, and behavior plans for the purpose of providing a safe and effective educational environment for students.
  • Provide social skills instruction to students utilizing research based practices.
  • Assist in developing procedures and training materials for staff involving students regarding additional interventions within the school setting.
  • Provide classroom management techniques and other strategies for the purpose of developing skills and establishing effective relationships with students requiring additional support and structures in the classroom setting.
  • Assists with student crisis intervention.
  • Assist with student crisis intervention.
  • Collect and summarize student behavioral data.
  • Other duties ass assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Possess instructional knowledge of crisis intervention strategies.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of various methods of data collection and subsequent analysis and interpretation of data to drive appropriate behavioral interventions.
  • Ability to utilize gradually progressive systems of verbal and nonverbal strategies to effectively deescalate student behaviors.
  • Maintain frequent and meaningful communication with parents/guardians and staff to develop proactive partnerships between the student/parent or guardian and school district to support academic achievement and pro-social behaviors.
  • Possess effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, staff, and school personnel.
  • Effective problem solving skills and utilizing data to deliver meaningful and impactful strategies for academic and behavioral success.

 

Evaluation:  Annually by Building Principal in accordance with policy.

 

A criminal fingerprint/background clearance is required.
